Birthday/ Father's Day weekend
this weekend is a celebration of Daddy - his birthday and Father's Day are on the same day! we are so lucky to have a daddy (and husband/ best friend) who is so loving, fun, and responsible. thank you Daddy - we love you very very much. Happy Birthday!

after carrying all of his Dr. Seuss collection from the library, Alexander proceeded to put them into 2 piles - the "no" and the "yes" - then he selected a book from the "yes" pile which he asked me to read to him.
ECD 2013
This weekend we went to the annual Early California Days carnival at St. John Vianney. The kids had fun on the rides and in Kiddieland (thank you Grandpa!), daddy won 2 glasses at his favorite coin toss game and Abuelita and Grandma Aguilar tried their luck at bingo.

This week, Sophia had a doctor's appointment. Our darlin' (as Daddy calls her sometimes) is doing fantastic. She's healthy and strong - holding her head up for (what seems) a long period of time, "standing" up, and connecting with us with her eyes and beautiful smile. Amazingly enough, she didn't cry at all when she was given her shot! Sophia is such a wonderful baby and joy. Alexander constantly wants to either see her, kiss her cheek and head, hug her, or hold her. When she's in her crib, he'll entertain her by showing Jacques the Peacock to her and talking to her. His love for his sister is so pure and it makes our hearts smile to see it every day.
Notably, we're a whole lot calmer (less stressed and anxious) with Sophia than we were with Alex (thank goodness). To that end or perhaps just because it's the type of baby she is, Sophia has only been waking up once a night to nurse! Thankfully, she's been eating very well during the day and gaining weight on track.
She's also started talking to us, which is very exciting! So many more exciting things to come. We can't wait and are truly enjoying our life.

two things strike me as funny about this lego camera he made. 1. he has an actual camera that takes real photos.
2. as far as I know he's never seen a camera that looks like this.

the beach!
today was Sophia's first visit to the beach! we went with Alexander's preschool class on a field trip to Laguna Beach. Alex and Daddy learned about the tide pools and Sophia and Mommy relaxed at the beach! we all had a wonderful time.
